The aim and objective of forming an Astronomy club in The Assam Valley School is to spread the message that the sky belongs to anyone with eyes, a mind, imagination, a spark of curiosity and the capacity to wonder. The universe is so immense that human beings only know about a tiny part of it. Therefore, I encourage students to take part in this endeavor and explore the sky.

We all know that Astronomy is a mother of Science and it is a fascinating lifetime hobby which can be enjoyed by young children to centenarians, by people from all walks of life and varied interests, from every corner of the earth.

The Assam Valley School acquired a new Astronomical Go To Telescope (Newtonian reflector) and a workshop was conducted by Experts from Science Popularization Association of Communicators and Educators (SPACE), New Delhi.

The Children has privileged to see the projected image of the sun on the screen from 12:10 pm to 12:30 pm. The experts demonstrated that permanent eye damage can result from looking at the disk of the Sun directly, or through a camera viewfinder, or with binoculars or a telescope. Many more exciting events will be coming soon.
