The ICT Department has established itself as a thriving and vibrant platform, where the pupils are trained to pursue higher levels of technical knowledge and creativity.

On the Academic front, the Department has been posting excellent results in Public Examinations on a consistent basis. Through a process of intensive training, innovative teaching methodology and interactive learning techniques, the pupils are trained to face the challenges of the future. The Senior School students study Java (programming language) and core Computer Science concepts. The Department produced an Aggregate of 95.05% at the ICSE level and a staggering 99.14% at the ISC level in the year 2018. Most of our students have gone on to pursue Computer Science and IT at the Tertiary level. Their expertise in the subject has rewarded them with scholarships to study in world - class institutions including the National University of Singapore.

The Lower School pupils are given the opportunity to explore the world of contemporary skills in computing. They navigate through various software packages, which help them to learn Desktop Publishing, designing Documents, Spreadsheets, Web-pages, Animations and Presentations. They are also given an introduction to programming with Scratch and Java in addition to a number of projects through the year for hands-on experience in IT skills.

The Department offers seven different activities at the Upper and Lower levels. Each year, the Department puts up an excellent exhibition during the Founders’ Day Celebrations of the school, showcasing the work done by the pupils. The department has already uploaded three apps designed by the students during the activity hours on Google playstore.

The ICT lab is fully air-conditioned and it is equipped with 47 branded modern computers, connected to a Server. We have high-speed internet access which works around-the-clock.




Mr. Tushar Bharadwaj (Dean of Activities, Marketing & Admissions)

Mr Bharadwaj is a member of the Senior Management Team of the School. He started his career as a Management Trainee with Informatics Computer Systems, New Delhi in 1991 and was subsequently posted as a School Executive at Dr. Graham’s Homes (DGH), Kalimpong which is a residential, Co-Ed school. He decided to become a full-time teacher in 1993 and joined DGH as a Teacher of Computer Science and taught classes IX to XII with distinction. He joined The Assam Valley School in July, 1996 and since then he has served the institution as a Teacher of Computer Science and in various other capacities. He has held the positions of Housemaster, Head of Middle School, ‘Chair’ of Exchange Board, Award Leader of IAYP (formerly known as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme) and Master-in-Charge of Quizzing. He is currently the ‘Chair’ of the Department of ICT and also the Director of Activities. He has a proven track record of producing strong results in Computer Applications at the ICSE level and Computer Science at the ISC level. Mr. Dulu Dutta (Chair & Webmaster)

Mr. Dutta graduated in Science in the year 1997. He joined Centre for Electronic Design and Technology of India (CEDTI -an Autonomous Scientific Society of Ministry of Information Technology, Govt. of India) at the Central University, Tezpur.

Mr. Dutta joined The Assam Valley School in the year 2002. He is currently teaching classes VI to XII. He has a proven track record of producing strong results in Computer Applications at the ICSE level and Computer Science at the ISC level. He holds the additional portfolio of Webmaster and he is responsible for maintaining the school’s website.





Mrs. Nabanita Kaur Jassal (Teacher)

Mrs. Jassal is convent educated and completed her graduation with Zoology Honours from Darrang College, Tezpur. Thereafter, she pursued her Master’s Degree in Tezpur Central University, from the School of Management Sciences and subsequently started her career in HSBC Data Processing Centre, Hyderabad. She took up teaching in 2004 and joined Kendriya Vidyalaya, Tezpur as a Teacher of Computer Science.

Mrs. Jassal joined the Assam Valley School in 2008. She teaches Science, Computers and Environmental Education in the Lower School. She is the Mistress-in-Charge for various Olympiads like the Science Olympiad, Informatics Olympiad and the G.K. Olympiad. Her interests are in ‘Quizzing’, publishing works and music.
