INTER-HOUSE DRAMATICS COMPETITION, 2021

The Inter-House Dramatics Competition, ‘Carpe Diem 2021’ was a grand affair and the first of its kind in the history of The Theatrical Society of AVS.

The event was carried out completely online as students were sent back home from campus before the onset of May. Initially planned to be conducted in the form of a One-Act Play, the rules were changed keeping in mind COVID safety protocols of social distancing. The competition was divided into two categories- Monologue and Audio Play, the entirety of which (right from Script Writing, Direction, Sound Effects besides Acting) were to be put together by the students.

After two months of ideating and shooting, the four houses finally assembled in the afternoon of 11th August for the Awards Ceremony of Carpe Diem over a virtual platform. Hosted by Dramatics Captain Shubhajeet Dasgupta, some highlights of the afternoon as one of the judges, Mr. Korak Bhattacharya, and Mi/C Mr. Debnath Pyne gave away the results are as follows:

For MONOLOGUE:

Best Performance- Shubhajeet Dasgupta (JINARI-MANAS)

Best Script- Tanisha Bhadra / Shubhajeet Dasgupta and

Sanjana Barooah (JINARI-MANAS/BHOROLI LOHIT)

Best Sound- Trinayana Saikia (JINARI-MANAS)

Best Director- Shubhajeet Dasgupta (JINARI-MANAS)

BEST MONOLOGUE- The final Bargain (JINARI-MANAS)

For AUDIO PLAY:

Best actor Male- Kaustav Garg (JINARI-MANAS)

Best actor Female- Naviya Chamaria (BHOROLI LOHIT)

Most Promising actor male- Shubhajeet Dasgupta ((JINARI-MANAS)

Most promising actor female- Alka Jhawar (KOPILI-DHANSIRI)
